Muppetational.

My friend AJ and I watched a few episodes of the old Muppet Show last night.  I know those shows were made decades ago, but still--when Scooter poked his head from behind the curtain and said “Linda Carter, Linda Carter, fifteen seconds to curtain, Miss Carter!"--it was just amazing how young he looked back then.

hahahahahaha!

that made me laugh for three minutes straight.
*sigh* maybe the stress is finally getting to me.

Oh - jealous!  Where were you able to watch old episodes?

Linda Carter was a muppetwench?  The idea of that golden lasso wrapped around that fuzzy green puppetskin… it’s the education every young boy needs.  Maybe they’ll come out with a special DVD of “Women of the Muppets” with Farrah and Linda and all the hotties cavorting with their little plush buddies.... it’s niche marketing, and that’s a niche I’m pretty comfortable with…

My generous cool friend James send me a little VHS-Popourri-O’-Fun.  Thanks James!

I’m still waiting for the “Where are they now” special.  I hear Scooter had a Dot Com that went belly up a few years back.  Dr. Honeydew is in jail for violating the cloning ban, leaving his “assistant” Beaker to raise Beaker Jr. alone until he’s paroled.  Statler is still hanging in there.  He occassionally blurts out the set up to a heckle, and then, when it’s not answered, he looks forlornly at the empty chair next to him…

And Waldorf’s salad days are far behind him (please, Lord, tell me I’m not so old that I’m the only one who sees the humor in that!)

If I agree to seeing the humor in that, am I also making some kind of admission about my age? Because if that’s the case, I have to tell you that I totally don’t get it, dude.  (They still say “dude,” don’t they?)

Maybe it’s just not funny.

You’re welcome, and there’s more where that came from.

A LOT more.

Meanwhile, if you’re on the web reading this, then you can go to http://www.muppetworld.com, answer a few silly trivia questions, and get a nifty green muppetlabs wallpaper screen for your computer, just like the one I have right now!  Everyone needs a little Honeydew and Beaker.

I also go for the Beaker air freshener for the car because I enjoy that citrus-y smell.  Also, my best buddy Min’s fiance returned from Korea with a little miniature fuzzy Totoro for my car as well, so that I now have competition for beadiest-eyed character hanging from my windshield.

Greg, next for you when I return from my holiday tour: Steve Martin.  And some other stuff.

Merry merry!

Relax, “dad” (if that is your real name), you’re plenty o’ funny.  Clearly it runs in the family. I just wasn’t going to own up to getting a chuckle out of something that you identified as potentially age-specific humor. Same reason I had to retire my “How many flappers does it take to screw in a light bulb?” joke.

Salad days...ohhh, that was bad.  But good.  How many flappers does it take?

Posted by  on  12/17  at  06:00 AM

I’m so sorry, but if I pull the joke out of retirement, its pension gets all screwed up, not to mention how it could complicate the joke’s taxes next April. No, I’m sorry, it’s just going to have to stay put. I mean it wasn’t retired without reason.  Just doesn’t have the kick it used to…

Maybe I could do a Google search… wink

I’m still laughing about “This next skit may not be suitable for adults.”

You know, they did update Piggy’s hair throughout the decades.  First long and straight and parted in the middle, then 80s perm, then “The Rachel"… ok, maybe not the Rachel, but still.

Here’s an idea, why doesn’t someone offer the Swedish Chef his very own cooking slot on cable TV?

I really miss The Muppets. I think my 3 year old would really enjoy them too…

You can get the Muppet Show from Time/Life books.  On DVD.  (grins evilly) I have all 15 DVD’s (with three episodes each) that they currently have released.

Check out http://www.timelife.com

It may cost a small fortune (well, to me it seemed like a small fortune) but I am loving the DVD’s myself, enjoy sharing them with my friends, and have a blast watching them with my nieces.  Money well spent in my opinion.
