Christmas was great but very expensive. I really wanted to get a dollhouse for my niece, so I foolishly obtained one of those volatile subprime mortgages. Let me tell you, in this economy, it’s not a good idea to get an adjustable fifteen-hour loan. By hour seven, I had already squandered dozens of quarters paying off the interest.
But it all worked in the end, because I was able to refinance to a fixed 30-day rate.

Still, and I don’t mean to sound like a hardass, but she’s going to have to take the place “as is” for now. It’s just not the right time to take out a home equity loan to do major remodeling--even though the structure is currently missing a wall.
First off: Your niece is just too cute for words. Love the tutu and the smile.
Second: Will you be my uncle? Man. That’s a fantastic house.
Oh man, Greg. I’ve been reading you since you hosted Bryan Adams, and I think I’ve probably emailed links to your blog more than any other, so God knows I enjoy your writing and your humor. I think I might like best when you post about your niece-your love for her is palpable; it feels like a blessing just to see it.
Merry Christmas
That’s an AWESOME house! What a lucky little girl!
That house is bigger than my apartment. :(
Too bad it’s uninsurable.
I just had a heartbreaking vision of that little angel hanging a ‘Back On Market!’ sign on the house. Keep up those payments.
Geez, I love your post and your niece is adorable. The house design is neat and I might have enjoyed playing with it… but all that pink would make me want to yack.
I have boys, probably a good thing.
simply sweet....!
Awesome!! I always wanted a dreamhouse like that when I was a kid. But I didn’t have a cool uncle to get me one. She’s very lucky indeed. I’m actually very jealous. I might go over to her house and steal it from her.
