Activist.

Geese Aplenty is proud to support and endorse National Turn Off Your TV Week.  For example, last night after 24 I turned my TV off.  And I plan to do it again tonight after Veronica Mars.  In fact, although I don’t generally watch TV every night, I’m inspired to do so this week just so I have the opportunity to turn off my TV.

Thanks National Turn Off Your TV Week!  And I encourage everyone to follow my example.

you are truly an inspiration. no, this time i mean it. not like all the other times when i paid you a compliment and i was just blowing smoke up your, uhm, nose.

what is it about your site that always makes me want to behave? bother.

Just keep updating--’cause I only link to people who update. Unlike, say, the frumious bandersnatch.

Did you see the ammended schedule of National Turn Off Your TV Week? It will only be celebrated once every four years and, through pure coincidence, will occur only during the Republican National Convention.

I watched TV on the web last night - does that count?

I turned off my TV just this morning, just after Teen Titans ended and I had to go to work

Uh… Holley, I think you are mistaking your favorite kiddie porn site for a television show…

Posted by Wonked  on  04/25  at  10:08 AM

DVR doesn’t count as TV… right?

Posted by Goldie  on  04/25  at  10:37 AM

this post made me chortle.

that is all.

What if you have a tv where the sound is kinda fritzy, so if you turn it off, you might not get sound for about an hour the next time you turn it on? In this case, can you subsitute “National Mute the Volume on Your TV Week”?

What is this Veronica Mars you speak of? I mean, I’ve heard of it, but does it warrant further investigation? Should I blow off more work and job-searching and TV-turning-offing to get to know it a bit better?

National Turn off your TV week?  What A-hole thought that one up?  I will do no such thing!

Posted by Cloudy  on  04/25  at  03:45 PM

Well there is always my wife’s TV. OK, count me in.

Does Music Choice digital music on the TV count?
I think I could forgo my addicion to Family Guy for a day or 2 and TIVO the rest if I were allowed to play music, may I?  Please?
Silence is SO not golden.

Darn!!  I missed Veronica Mars last night.  I’ve been working too much and family members will not stop visiting!

Anyway, Greg, why don’t you make up for it by walking off your job on May 1 in solidarity with imigrant workers?  Also, in solidarity with people in Mexico, don’t buy American goods on that day.

I’m slow.  Somebody explain Wonked’s comment to me.

Posted by Holley  on  04/26  at  08:34 PM

I don’t get it either.  I never got into Teen Titans because it takes a good comic book and makes it all manga-y, but it has some nice energy and its really not porn-like in any way, shape, or form.

Posted by Greg  on  04/26  at  08:55 PM

Thanks!  I feel better, now.  When you’re four year old faces you with a decision between Teen Titans, Dora and Jay Jay the Jet Plane, you have to play it as it lies.

It was sarcasm. Often times these kids’ shows have names that could be misconstrued to be something more ominous (in this case, a kiddie porn site).
